ADULT EDUCATION

Check out our latest feature:
The latest feature to the Adult Education Program, are these handheld tutor units from the Brainchild Company. These units are used in the classroom, or can be taken home to help parents prepare for GED testing.

PARENTING

One of the goals of the Even Start Program is to assist parents in their role as their child’s first teacher. Even Start provides parents with information about each stage of their young child’s growth and development.

“An informed Parent is a Powerful Parent”

P.C.I.L.A. Parent/Child Interactive Literacy Activities

Even Start Parent Educators share with you the latest in brain research information about your child’s growth and development. A Parent educator brings age appropriate literacy projects and activities into the home. These specially designed projects will help your child to strengthen and develop necessary skills needed for school success. These projects are for you and your child to do together, as parent and child together time. Materials for these activities are often simple items that can be found in the home.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Even Start assists parents, with enrolling their children in an early childhood program, and helps parents track their child’s progress to age 7. Early Childhood education combined with other programs assure parents and children “an Even Start”

WHAT DOES BRAIN RESEARCH TEACH PARENTS?
You can make your baby smarter by what you do when he is a baby. Once this window of opportunity closes you have to play catch up.
Parent and Child interaction in the first three years sets the stage for future behaviors
Between 10 and 18 months, a baby’s emotional intelligence and long-term memory begins to be wired.
The more words your child hears by the age of 2, the more words he will be able to speak
A 3 year old who listens to music every day has a head start in learning how to solve problems that will help him with learning math later on.
The interactions between a child and parent are key to healthy development and school success.

Research shows:

  • Repetition is key to mastering skills
  • Infants thrive on one-to-one interaction with parents
  • Sensitive, nurturing parenting provides a child with a sense of trust that allows them to feel confident and form positive lasting relationships
  • Touching, holding, rocking, talking and reading to an infant are essential for the development of intellectual competency and language comprehension.
  • Those parts of the brain that aren’t stimulated through voice, sight, touch and other nurturing will eventually die off. So…

Hug and kiss and play with your child...talk to your baby, in as many languages you like...read to your child...listen to classical music with your child.
This program can host only twenty (20) families at a time, so please call to find out about availability or to be put on the waiting list.
