Willow Lodge Opening Planned for September 1st

MISSION STATEMENT

"Dedicated to promote, develop and maintain the highest possible level of Mental Health, including a drug free culture among the service population"

MENTAL HEALTH

The Mental Health Department offers a wide array of services to meet the needs of the community. These services include but are not limited to; one on one counseling for children, adolescents and adults, parenting skills-individual or group sessions, assessment screenings, referrals, trauma counseling and play therapy.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL PROGRAM

The Substance Abuse program provides the community with a number of vital services that include but are not limited to; One on one counseling for adolescents and adults, screening and testing, five local AA/NA meetings per week, an intensive Out-Patient Program which includes prevention, relapse and addiction educational topics. A new Teen Intensive Out-Patient Program, which meets twice per week. In addition to these services, counselors from the substance abuse program offer court advocacy and work with clients and their parole/probation officers in order to develop the most appropriate treatment and recovery plans.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Our department currently offers two separate Domestic Violence Programs for Batterers and their victims.

Peace Offerings
Facilitated by Tina Marler and co-facilitated by James Bear Marler, Peace Offerings is a state-approved, 52-week domestic violence program offered every Wednesday from 5pm to 7pm. A woman’s victim group is also available every Wednesday at 2pm. Individual counseling and/or therapy is available if necessary.

Partners Against Violent Endeavors
(P.A.V.E.)- Anger Management classes are provided every Friday evenings starting at 5pm, with a second session starting at 6:45pm. Classes are taught by Karen Reipert Jandebeur, MFC, ext 26.

CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES

The Child and Family Services/Indian Child Welfare (ICW) Department, dedicated to protecting Indian families and children offer many services that include but are not limited to; protection against abuse and neglect, advocacy in both Tribal and State courts, Foster Care Licensing, referral and mediation. Child and Family Services helps families in maintaining a healthy family structure along with interaction with other agencies to locate resources and programs that best fit the needs of each individual family and/or child.


OTHER SERVICES

Humboldt Alcohol Recovery Program (HART)
Classes for DUI first and multiple offenders are offered every Monday at 6pm and Wenesdays at 7pm. Tina Marler, Certified Substance Abuse Counselor II, from the Division of Human Services, contracted through Humboldt County, teaches these courses. Tina may be reached at (530) 625-4236 ext 14.

Parole/Probation
Humboldt County Parole and Probation Officers provide scheduled appointments with area clients at the Division of Human Services Building on Tuesdays and Thursdays and may be reached at (530) 625-4236 ext 26, (Tuesdays and Thursdays only).

Court Ordered Community Service Placement
Humboldt County Superior and Municipal Courts have authorized community services placement through the Division of Human Services.

Cal-Works

The Division of Human Services received a grant from the State Department of Alcohol and Drug program. The purpose of the grant is to provide Cal-Works and TANF recipients who are Native American or belong to a Native American household, with mental health and/or substance abuse counseling. By June the Human Services Department hopes to have the Willow Lodge Aftercare Program in place for Native American Females between the ages of 12 and 17. The program will provide services to assist these youths in transitioning back into their community as they continue on their path to sobriety. The residents will be offered mental health therapy, chemical dependency counseling, cultural groups, recreation, and aftercare planning.
