Solid Waste
Hoopa Valley Public Utilities District is the water and municipalities arm of the Hoopa Valley Tribe, offering water services, solid waste collection, septic tank servicing, and general water/sewer maintenance to the community of the Hoopa Valley. HVPUD played an integral part in facilitating the closure of the Supply Creek Dump under the Open-Dump Closure
Initiative in 1998. Since the closure of the Supply Creek Dump, PUD has initiated the construction of a full service transfer station located in the Hoopa Valley. PUD has also recieved a significant grant from USEPA in order to develop a safe-drinking water system to supplement the existing water system in the Hoopa Valley. Construction is scheduled for sometime later this year. Public Utilities has always taken a pro-active approach in addressing the ever growing water needs of the Hoopa Valley, and continue to research ways to reach remote areas like Bald Hill.
