Hoopa Valley Tribe hosts MMIP Meeting
The Hoopa Valley Tribe would like to express sincere appreciation to everyone who attended our MMIP Community meeting on March 4. We appreciate the community members, partners, and departments who took the time to participate and contribute to these important discussions.
During the meeting, participants reviewed updates from the previous meeting and discussed key topics including law enforcement coordination, response protocols for missing persons, improved communication and data sharing, and ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between Tribal departments and partner organizations.
The group also talked about community outreach and awareness efforts, including updated MMIP posters, reward flyer development, and ways to improve meeting notifications to encourage greater community participation. These conversations are an important step toward strengthening coordination, supporting families, and continuing to raise awareness about MMIP issues affecting Indigenous communities.
The next MMIP meeting will be held on April 15th at 5:30 PM in the Hoopa Tribal Council Chambers. Community members are encouraged to attend and stay involved.
May 5th is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous People. This day honors the lives of those who are missing or have been taken, supports their families, and raises awareness about the ongoing crisis affecting Indigenous communities across the country.
Thank you again to everyone who continues to stay engaged and help move this important work forward.
